The full-section profile of the rail is then produced by splicing these two half-sections together. In most cases, a line-structured light sensor is placed on each side of a rail in order to obtain the profile data of the left and right half-sections of the rail. As a mainstream method of dynamic detection of rail profiles globally, it can detect the parameters of in-service rails, such as vertical wear and side wear. The measurement of rail profiles using line-structured light vision is based on the principle of triangulation and features high speed, high precision, and noncontact. As a result of regularly inspecting the rail profile, as well as evaluating the state parameters of these rails, such as vertical wear and side wear, it is possible to gain a better understanding of not only the state of the rails but also how to grind the rails, as this is a crucial part of railway operations and maintenance. Rails play an important role in the maintenance and repair of railway lines. Using the method in this study, the laser plane attitude can be quantified and accurately assessed on both sides, effectively resolving the problem with traditional methods that can only assess the laser plane attitude qualitatively and roughly, thereby providing a solid foundation for calibration and error correction of the measurement system. On this basis, laser coplanarity evaluation criteria were developed to determine whether the laser planes on both sides of the rails are coplanar. Real-time fitting of laser planes with three planar targets of different heights provides information about the laser plane attitude on both sides of the rails. This study proposes an evaluation method based on fitting planes in response to this problem. Currently, in the field of rail profile measurement, there are no effective methods for evaluating laser plane attitude, and it is impossible to determine the degree of laser coplanarity quantitatively and accurately. It was common in areas with large summer to winter temperature variations for an engine to be run on a less viscous oil grade, such as SAE 10, in winter and on a thicker SAE 30 in the summer. This first SAE Viscosity Grades for Engine Oils classification was for ‘straight’ monograde engine oils. In 1911 it established its viscosity grade classifications for engine oils. The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) was formed in 1905. And a multi-grade engine oil has to survive all these different conditions. It provides the appropriate fluid film protection in a number of flow and temperature conditions, being cranked at cold start-up temperatures down as low as -35o C, circulating as the bulk engine oil at around 100o C, or being torn apart through the ring belt area at temperatures around 185o C. Probably the most common multi-grade viscosity classification we encounter is an SAE 15W-40, though some modern diesel engines are now calling for SAE 10W-40, SAE 5W-30 or even SAE 0W-20 viscosity engine oils.Ī multi-grade engine oil is a technological marvel, yet we tend to take them for granted. Any lubricant, including diesel engine oils, can be fully described by those two functions, performance and viscosity. The other is performance, whether an API Service Classification, an ACEA Classification or an OEM specification. Viscosity is one of two characteristics which we use to fully describe an engine oil. We’re all familiar with multi-grade diesel engine oils. Rosegarden is a heavy-weight, highly-extensible Linux DAW. Criticism over ease-of-use aside, if you take the time to learn it, this application will pay off. This is one application where the layman is going to need a manual. Unfortunately, for those new to Rosegarden or DAWs in general, actually getting to work is a chore. Other notable features include an unlimited undo/redo history, LADSPA and DSSI plug-in compatibility, and the ability to drag-and-drop files directly into a track from the OS file manager. While not unique to Rosegarden, the implementation of this tool is something one would typically expect to pay for. Here you can create and edit a composition entirely as musical notes. The not so good news is that Because most VSTs are written to be Windows compatible. One of Rosegarden's best features is its score editor. Fortunately theres a useful page on the LMMS wiki about plugins. These toolbar groups can be rearranged or removed from the main toolbar to create a slightly customized UI layout. I have tried many different ones in the past (rosegarden, muse, ardour) but none of them was good. The functions of the main toolbar are grouped into sections by their use type (play controls, copy/paste, etc.). I didnt test with wine and VeSTIge plugins on FreeBSD yet. Built with Qt, Rosegarden is right at home in KDE. I have attempted to download another E-Piano preset but that effort didnt work either. There is plenty of electric piano VSTs, and also in the majority of add/sub/wav synths there usually are some EPiano presets. Although the polish certainly doesn't approach the level of Apple Logic Studio, it's definitely beyond what one would expect from an entirely free Linux DAW application. Have you tried others VSTs (It is recommended to try to load synth1 to see if VSTs work). Rosegarden has to be one of the most crammed user interfaces we've seen in a Linux application. By corralling the various functions into in-application windows, LMMS suffers no window management hassles in the OS taskbar. Function windows can be maximized and docked into the outer application window, minimized to the floor of the outer window, or closed entirely and re-launched from the main toolbar. The LMMS user interface consists of one large window housing smaller in-application windows for various functions, which is typical of professional-grade creation suites. An on-screen piano roll and a variety of instrument plug-ins and effects makes LMMS an approachable application for creating music, with or without real instruments. LMMS can also import and edit files from Fruity Loops. LMMS supports LADSPA, VST, and MIDI plug-ins, as well as MIDI keyboards. LMMS contains a track editor, mixer, synthesizer, notation sequencer, and includes recording functionality. ago Lethality is good, though if you have the hard drive space to spare, I recommend using the Unreal Instruments Standard Guitar and Metal GTX, and loading them into LMMS through sforzando. He was a proud man, he was a very proud hockey player, very talented, and he brought a lot of that pride to Quebecers that we all need. "I've spoken to a lot of citizens over the past few days and a lot of people wrote about how proud we were of Guy Lafleur. "It's very beautiful, it's touching, and it shows how much Guy Lafleur was loved," Plante said. Lafleur will lie in state again on Monday before a state funeral is held at Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral on Tuesday. Plante thanked the Lafleur family for opening their hearts to allow Montrealers and Quebecers from across the province to pay tribute to the hockey legend. Legault and Montreal mayor Valerie Plante were among a number of dignitaries in attendance. 'What you see is what you get,' that was Guy Lafleur, and I think that authenticity is something that made him loved by all Quebecers." "He would say what was on his mind and that would get him in trouble from time to time, that happens to me, too. Seated behind Lafleur's casket, which was fittingly adorned with flowers, was his family, and watching over him was the Stanley Cup. "And all four of us had an opportunity to play against him and there's a tremendous amount of rivalry and competition and history between the Leafs and Montreal, but behind it all is respect." "I think it's two organizations (the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs) that are fierce rivals on the ice, have been since the NHL started, but there's a deep, deep level of respect, not just for the Canadiens but for Guy himself," Shanahan said. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988, he was selected first overall by Montreal in the 1971 NHL Draft and played a pivotal role in the franchise's five Stanley Cup championships (1973, 1976-79). Lafleur's body lay in state on Sunday at the current home of the Canadiens. "He would greet you and make you feel like you're the most special person in the world. And that's what's incredible with this guy, a big star and it doesn't look like it when you talk to him," Langlois said. "Like everybody is saying, he's a simple guy and when you're with him, you're the most important person when you talk to him. He fondly remembers playing against Lafleur in Mont-Laurier in 1998 and will never forget dining with him after. Richard Langlois, 50, drove two hours from Sherbrooke. "I came to see Guy, to thank him for everything we experienced through him," Jocelyn Godard, 51, from Montreal said. So it was only fitting that thousands of people streamed through Bell Centre on Sunday to pay respects to the NHL legend who died April 22 at the age of 70 after a nearly three-year battle with cancer. Small tattoos are also easier to conceal if you prefer less visible body art, since they will be replaced more quickly and cost less. Small tattoos are a great introduction to body art, or you might want to add a tiny design to your tattoo collection. Your design can convey your conviction about life and death. The scythe is usually used in agriculture to harvest crops, but in this context, it is symbolic of the grim reaper reaping the souls. The grim reaper is a mythological creature that is said to take the souls of the recently deceased. There is also a lack of muscle and fat in the area, which increases the pain. For others, tattooing is a terrific opportunity to showcase body art that is meaningful to you, especially on job opportunities. The placement of a hand tattoo has been favored by criminals and those on the fringes of society, and it shows you do not care what others think of you. Due to its thick skin, muscle, and fat, the forearm is considered a low to moderate pain scale chart, and a grim reaper will create a symbolic and intimidating effect. It is especially appealing for those who want body art they can wear everyday. The area is extremely versatile, allowing you to conceal your design with clothing or show it off whenever you want. Sleeve tattoos require a lot of labor and effort to complete, and they can be costly.įorearm tattoos are one of the most popular body art locations. Your design could be sleeved around your arm, starting at the wrist, or contrasted with angels. The tattoo sleeve is an excellent way to combine several images and tell a story. Some people believe that the reaper is responsible for death and that the reaper is a natural part of the life cycle. The grim reaper is often depicted as a skeleton wearing a black cloak and carrying a large scythe. However, the closer you tattoo toward the hip bones or spine, the more discomfort you will experience. The back is a great location for your grim reaper tattoo because of its strong skin, fat, and muscle, which provides cushioning. Words or phrases can also be useful because they require less shading and appear better when applied on a smaller scale. They are often created in black ink and have little shading or contrast, resulting in a minimalistic aesthetic. Tattoo Design Ideas for the Grim ReaperĪ simple tattoo is an excellent choice for those who want to focus on the design's basic elements. To others, the grim reaper is just a part of the life cycle because we all will die someday. It is often depicted as a human skeleton wearing a hooded cloak and carrying a scythe. The grim reaper is said to be associated with death since the 14th century. Others have a more humorous interpretation, including cute or cartoonish images. It represents life and death, or it reflects our pride and pride. The grim reaper may seem like a morbid choice for a tattoo, but it is nonetheless powerful in its significance. Owner of a Pinot’s Palette franchise in Tuckahoe, Pat Cipollone believes the draw of paint bars lies in the feeling of achievement they provide customers who may be unaware of their own artistic talents. “I have always liked to draw, and they say that anybody can do it-and they give step-by-step instructions-so I thought I would give it a try. Marylee Enright, a student at Muse, agrees that the paint bar is undoubtedly enjoyable. It’s either fun and entertaining or therapeutic-or a combination of all those things.” You get to create your masterpiece while hanging out with friends and family. “You come for two and a half hours, and you aren’t thinking about work troubles or anything like that. “It is an opportunity to get away from the daily grind,” says Stan Finch, president and co-founder of Muse Paintbar. Meanwhile, Pinot’s just opened its very first Westchester outpost in Tuckahoe last December, with two more slated to open soon. In June, Muse opened a location in White Plains and another at Ridge Hill in Yonkers six months later. Two notable paint-bar chains, Muse Paintbar and Pinot’s Palette, have both expanded into Westchester in just the past year. While the concept of a paint bar might seem a bit strange, the fun atmosphere coupled with clear directions from a teacher who guides students in the creation of eye-popping artwork quickly feels natural-especially after a few glasses of Merlot. Paint bars let you enjoy many of the same potent potables that are standard fare at traditional saloons as you brush to the music with friends and loved ones-and they’re popping up around Westchester like hayricks in a Monet. Now you can wake up after a night on the town with more than just a headache and an empty wallet. Models and observations from real savanna ecosystems and drylands have suggested that they may exhibit both tipping behavior as well as spatial pattern formations. Moreover, spatial ecosystem structures, such as vegetation patterns, are important to predict ecosystem response in the face of environmental change. As ecosystems are inherently spatial, it is important to understand the effects of incorporating spatial processes in models, and how those insights translate to the real world. However, typically ecosystem models that predict tipping do not resolve space explicitly. It predicts potential critical transition from one ecosystem state to a completely different state under increasing environmental stress. The theory of alternative stable states and tipping points has garnered a lot of attention in the last decades. Rethinking tipping points in spatial ecosystems | 11am, 4th May 2023 This is the first time that such a model is validated on a fully independent cohort without the need for iEEG recordings. Individualised computational models may inform surgical planning by suggesting optimal resection strategies and informing on the likelihood of a good outcome after a proposed resection. The actual resection also overlapped more with the optimal one (AUC=0.64) and had a larger effect decreasing modelled seizure propagation (AUC=0.78) for patients with good outcome. Using the model to find optimal resection strategies, we found smaller resections (AUC=0.65) for patients with good outcome, indicating intrinsic differences in the presurgical data of patients with good and bad outcome. As a consequence iEEG data (highly invasive and not always part of the presurgical evaluation) was not required. We validated the use of the model in the clinic with a blind, independent pseudo-prospective study (N=34) using the parameters as in the retrospective study to avoid over-fitting. Remarkably, the SIR model parameters that best describe the iEEG seizure patterns correspond to the critical transition between the percolating and absorbing phases of the SIR model, and the similarity between the iEEG and modelled seizure predicted surgical outcome (area under the curve AUC = 0.73). We show in a retrospective study (N=15) that this simple dynamic -namely the Susceptible-Infected-Recover (SIR) model- is enough to reproduce the main aspects of seizure propagation as recorded via invasive electroencephalography (iEEG). The propagation of seizures over the brain can be regarded as an epidemic spreading process taking place on the patient's connectome. Epilepsy surgery is the treatment of choice for drug-resistant epilepsy patients, but up to 50% of the patients continue to have seizures one year after the resection. The role of epidemic spreading in seizure propagation and epilepsy surgery | 11am, 11th May 2023 Ĭomputational models of brain dynamics can provide new insights into the prognosis of neurological disorders such as epilepsy. As an application, we derive an accurate multiscale model of the International Trade Network applicable across hierarchically nested geographic partitions. If they are quenched, they can guide the renormalization of real-world networks with node attributes and distance-dependence or communities. If the hidden variables are annealed, they lead to realistic scale-free networks with density-dependent cut-off, assortatitivy and finite local clustering, even in the sparse regime and in absence of geometry. These results highlight a deep conceptual distinction between scale-free and scale-invariant networks, and provide a geometry-free route to renormalization. Renormalizable networks turn out to be consistent with a unique specification of the fitness model, while they are incompatible with preferential attachment, the configuration model or the stochastic blockmodel. This approach reveals a necessary and specific dependence of network topology on additive hidden variables attached to nodes, plus optional dyadic factors. Here we introduce a graph renormalization scheme valid for any hierarchy of coarse-grainings, thereby allowing for the definition of `block-nodes' across multiple scales. community structure, hyperbolicity, scale-free topology), thus remaining incompatible with generic graphs and ordinary lattices. Current network renormalization approaches require strong assumptions (e.g. By contrast, complex networks defy the usual techniques, due to their small-world character and lack of explicit geometric embedding. Systems with lattice geometry can be renormalized exploiting their coordinates in metric space, which naturally define the coarse-grained nodes.
